Cannabis News – Celebrity Rapper The Game Buys Dispensary – Montana Medical Marijuana Shops Closed

Compton’s very own rapper, The Game, becomes partial owner of The Reserve Dispensary, one of 10 licensed medical marijuana dispensaries located in Santa Ana. The rapper is also developing branded strains of cannabis flowers and concentrates that will be available in licensed dispensaries by the end of this year. According to the Orange County Register, the Game, whose real name is Jayceon Taylor, considers medical marijuana access a human rights issue. In July, he teamed up with fellow rapper Snoop Dogg in a march to the Los Angeles Police Department graduation ceremony to promote ending violence between cops and men of color. Taylor only wishes to build a foundation where good people are willing to stand up, step out and pave the way for future generations to come. He states, “The Reserve is my platform for nationwide education and statewide access to consistent, locally grown and premium medicine.”

Cannadescent, a commercial marijuana grower located in southern California, has received $6.5 million to fund its cultivation facility located in Desert Hot Springs. According to Marijuana Business Daily, the raise was completed from more than 30 investors and will go towards working capital, marketing and additional properties. The facility is the first in southern California to operate with a locally-issued business permit specifically for growing cannabis. Candescent will start cultivation operations at the end of September.

Over 12,000 patients lost their legal access to medical marijuana due to a new restriction that limits medical dispensaries to three patients a piece. Dispensaries posted several Facebook messages announcing that they will be closing Tuesday. According to the Cannabist, the Montana Supreme Court upheld three key provisions of the 2011 state law regarding marijuana use. These provisions restrict marijuana providers to only selling to three registered patients, requests doctors who prescribe marijuana to more than 25 patients to be reviewed, and prohibits marijuana advertising. The state health department has already contacted patients and providers about these changes. Out of 488 registered providers, 305 dispensaries have told the department that they will provide medical marijuana to up to three patients. As for the patient’s, health officials will issue them 30-day cards to allow them more time to make plans.
